Participate in one of our most exciting campus traditions! 

Get involved by cheering on student organizations as they race across the pond, or compete by building a boat out of cardboard!

  Organizations will race in heats of 4 to 5 teams. The top finishers of each heat will compete in one final race to determine the winning organization. The top finishers will receive prizes.

Boat race rules:

1. Teams must have their boat to the pond/checked in for the start of the pep rally at 12:45 pm
2. The boat structure/frame must be made entirely of cardboard
3. Teams may use a plastic film material (eg. plastic bags, saran wrap)
4. Teams may also use tape/duct tape or glue to hold the boat together
5. Other materials should not be used
6. All boats need to have at least a 3-inch side around the entire boat 
7. If teams use a paddle, the paddle must be made from the same materials as the boat
8. 1 team member must captain the boat from the starting point in the chancellor's pond, to the opposite end, and back
9. Teams will be responsible for retrieving and disposing of all boat parts after the races have concluded
