Emily Matthews Luxon (PhD, University of California, San Diego) is an associate professor of Political Science, specializing in the politics, policy, and discourses of the environment and food systems. She is the author of multiple articles on the political behavior and discourses of environmental advocacy organizations, including their strategic responses to information and transparency (or lack thereof) in the policymaking process. Her current research explores political discourses surrounding responsibility for climate change and policies for applying sewage sludge as fertilizer to agricultural land, as well as theories of power and responsibility, especially as they apply to environmental and food-system policy and advocacy. Professor Luxon teaches courses on environmental and food politics, and uses ungrading pedagogies where possible in her courses. She is an affiliate faculty member of the Master of Public Administration and Policy and the Women and Gender Studies programs, the director of the Food Studies Certificate program, and the president of the 蹤獲扦-Dearborn Chapter of the American Association of University Professors.
