She has served in many leadership roles in the field of environmental health at the local and national level, including with the American Public Health Association, Community Action to Promote Healthy Environments, Environmental Health Research-to-Action, the Michigan Center on Lifestage Environmental Exposures and Disease, and the National Council for Environmental Health and Equity. Dr. Sampson works to democratize environmental health science and policymaking in an effort to improve environmental health for all. She gets to do this work in partnership with brilliant leaders, including longtime community organizers, activists, youth, students, agency partners, educators, and researchers. He received M.Ed. in Microcomputer Applications in Education and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio University.</p><p>Dr. Duran’s teaching and research interest focuses on technology and teacher education. He specializes in and writes about technology integration in teacher preparation programs. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on this topic. Dr. Duran’s scholarly interest also includes conducting research on STEM learning&nbsp;and trends and issues in educational technology. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned her doctorate in Special Education. Dr. Shaffer's research interests span across personnel preparation of professionals in both the educational and medical fields serving young children facing challenges due to systemic societal obstacles, children with disabilities and their families, culturally responsive practices, social-emotional development, challenging behavior, emotional/behavioral disorders, policy issues, and professional development. For over 20 years, Dr. Shaffer has been engaged in teaching (both young children and adults), mentoring, supervising, training, advising, evaluating, develop curriculum, evaluating courses, serving on advisory boards and committees, leading programs, engaging in research, and dissemination.&nbsp;</p><p>She has been privileged to work for children and families in various capacities. She received her Ph.D. in ESL/Second Language Studies program in the department of English from Purdue University, IN and obtained her Master’s degree in the department of Linguistics at Syracuse University, NY. She had another master's degree in the department of Literature at Seoul National University and bachelor's degree in the department of Literature at Ewha Womans University, South Korea. Dr. Park’s research interests include bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) education issues,&nbsp;Teacher collaboration(STEM), intercultural communication, and language assessment for linguistically and culturally diverse students. Through her teaching experience, Dr. Park has been teaching pre- and in-service teachers through K-12 teacher education for ESL licensure and TESOL certificate, both in-person and online formats, international teaching assistants at the university level, and K-12 English learners. Her teaching areas include&nbsp;ESL and Bilingual Education, ESL Teaching methods, Literacy and Assessment for English Learners and language and culture in education in online&nbsp;format. He also has nine years of professional experience as a Chartered Accountant (Canada) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor working in the areas of public accounting, internal auditing and business process reengineering.</p><p>Dr. Kobelsky joined the faculty in 2011. He has served the Information Systems section of the American Accounting Association in several roles including acting as the Annual Meeting Section Program Chair.
