Student Employment: Electronic Temporary Hiring Process, Brief Overview
- Department administrator creates requisition using the e-Recruit System
- Create a posting if there is not already a selected candidate. Positions should be posted for 3 – 5 days to build a qualified applicant pool.
- If, because of the nature of the position, there is a candidate selected, go to Step 2 “students apply for the position”.
- Students apply for the position
- Interviews are conducted to determine the most qualified candidate for the position (follow departmental interview procedures or see HR Rep if you need to build procedures).
- After student has been selected for the position, department administrator prepares offer in the system
- Once the offer has been submitted, the student receives a request for a background check authorization. Please ask the student to watch for the email messages as the offer cannot be approved if these requests are not answered.
- A background check verification is conducted by HR and offer is approved upon successful results
- Upon notice of offer approval, department administrator modifies offer to “Accept”
- Department administrator completes the last step “Prepare for Hire” which sends the information to M-Pathways
- Once the department administrator has submitted the “Prepare for Hire” request, student will receive at least 2 follow-up e-mails from the system asking them to validate their personal information. Inform students that they must validate their personal information so that their record can be built and they can start receiving pay for their work.
